Living in New Jersey and the house that we are renting has bad plumbing. After only a month in the house, raw sewage filled the bottom of the downstairs bathtub. The landlord did come over and brought someone that wasn't a plumber and could not speak english to fix it. We wanted to be able to communicate with him to see why and what could have cause that. Anyway when he finished she said that it should be fine but her recommendation was that we don't use toilet paper because she didn't and she never had this problem. If we do use toilet paper and it happens again she is not going to fix it we have too. It is also in the lease that she is to make repairs. She also said she is not going to pay 2 or 3,000 to fix something just because we said to and we want to use toilet paper. It another things going on with her but I have to keep this short. Can I get some advice? Oh and I did withhold the rent for Sept. I did follow the law.....sent out a certified letter and put money in escrow account so if she does take me to court I will bring the money along which most likely they would tell me to deposit it with them....
